Have silverware instead of coins?

Sterling flatware, a tea set and scrap 925 are priced by weight, not by face value. The silverware calculator handles those, and it checks whether your pieces are solid silver or plate before it gives you a number.

About This Calculator

What is Junk Silver?

"Junk silver" refers to U.S. coins minted before 1965 that contain 90% silver (or war nickels with 35% silver). These coins are valued primarily for their silver content rather than numismatic value, making them popular among investors and collectors.

How Melt Value is Calculated

Melt value is the intrinsic worth of the silver content in a coin. It's calculated by multiplying the coin's silver content (in troy ounces) by the current silver spot price. For example, a Mercury Dime contains 0.0723 troy ounces of silver as struck, so at $65/oz spot price its melt value is $4.70.
